Algeria launched a second decontamination operation at the Béryl E2 nuclear test tunnel in In Ekker, near Tamanrasset, on November 1.
Supervised by the Ministry of National Defence and carried out using Algerian resources, the operation aims to identify contaminated areas and contain radioactive waste left by French nuclear testing.
Algeria continues to demand access to French military archives and waste burial maps, as well as recognition of the harm suffered by affected populations.
